Getting to and from the Singapore Grand Prix

Since the Singapore circuit is actually a street race set right in the heart of the city’s CBD, getting to the actual race will be relatively easy, relying on Singapore’s excellent public transport system.

With the action centred around North Marina Bay, mostly in the old Colonial sector, you can catch the MRT to City Hall, Raffles Place or Esplanade stations, but be prepared for a great deal of walking since many roads will be blocked off or severely congested, making taxis useless. The actual Marina Bay MRT station is nowhere near the action.

Approaching from the east via the East coast parkway will bring you close to the paddock end of the circuit but parking is likely to be a tedious effort in this compact but well planned city.

Getting to Singapore itself is best done by air and Changi International Airport is a major Asian hub boasting an impressive selection of flights en-route to Australia from Europe, in addition to regional flights from across Southeast Asia.

The MRT as well as numerous taxis and buses service the airport but you are advised to stay in hotels outside of the city centre which is likely to experience congestion all weekend as a result of the street circuit race.

An alternative way to reach the island is via a land bridge from Johor Bahru in Malaysia, if you are driving from Kuala Lumpur.
